Canon EOS R6 V Pricing Leaks at $2,499 With Power Zoom Kit Option

ShutterCount 2 Mins Read

Canon is putting the finishing touches on its May 13 launch lineup, and pricing details for two of the biggest products have now leaked. The Canon EOS R6 V is expected at $2,499 for the body, with the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ power zoom lens adding roughly $1,299 to the total in kit configurations.

EOS R6 V body pricing

The $2,499 body-only price is interesting for a few reasons. Earlier rumors suggested a $400 price reduction compared to the EOS R6 Mark III, which launched at $2,499 — meaning this would be the same price, not a discount. That may have been a misinterpretation of the earlier leak, or Canon may have adjusted pricing as the launch approached.

At $2,499, the R6 V sits in direct competition with the Sony FX3 at $3,898 and the Panasonic Lumix S5IIX at $2,199. Canon is betting that the combination of active cooling, 7K 60P RAW internal recording, and a cinema-inspired body can justify the premium over the Lumix while undercutting Sony significantly.

Power zoom lens pricing

The RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ is expected to price around $1,299 when sold separately. A kit bundling the R6 V with the power zoom would likely come in around $3,499 to $3,799, depending on the final bundle configuration.

The 20-50mm F4 PZ is a unique lens in Canon’s lineup. It is a dedicated power zoom with a constant F4 aperture, designed specifically for video work. The focal length range — 20mm on the wide end to 50mm at the long end — covers the most useful range for run-and-gun video, gimbal work, and vlogging. The power zoom mechanism allows smooth, controllable zoom transitions that are difficult to achieve with manual zoom rings during video recording.

8-10 SKUs on May 13

The pricing leak is part of a broader product launch. Canon is expected to announce 8 to 10 SKUs on May 13, including multiple bundle configurations of the R6 V body, the body with the 20-50mm PZ lens, and various accessory packages. The accessories are expected to include cage components, handle mounts, and video-oriented add-ons.

All pricing is based on pre-release leaks and has not been officially confirmed by Canon. The May 13 announcement will include full details.
