A well‑known Chinese leaker known as “@地上相机AAA” has shared what he claims are early test builds of Sony’s upcoming A1 II firmware.
According to the leaked screenshots, Sony appears to be testing at least three different versions: 4.02, 4.04, and 5.00. Each build includes different feature additions, suggesting Sony is experimenting with multiple directions for the next major update.
From what’s shown in the images, the changes include faster burst shooting beyond 30fps, support for CFexpress 4.0 cards, and a new white balance algorithm similar to the one introduced on the A7 V.
Firmware 4.02
- Adds the updated white balance algorithm from the A7 V.
Firmware 4.04
- Increases burst shooting speed to over 30fps.
- Adds support for CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards.
Firmware 5.00
- Introduces the “4K Angle Priority” mode, also found on the A7 V.
It’s unclear whether Sony plans to release these as separate updates or merge everything into a single major firmware. Internal test builds often change before public release, so the final feature set may look different.
Firmware leaks like this are extremely rare, and there’s currently no way to confirm the authenticity of the screenshots. Treat this as an early rumor for now.
