Panasonic has officially launched the Lumix L10, a modern revival of the beloved LX100 series to celebrate the Lumix brand’s 25th anniversary. Announced on May 12, 2026, the L10 combines a large back-illuminated sensor, a fast Leica-branded zoom lens, and advanced hybrid features in a genuinely pocketable body.
The L10 is positioned as a premium compact for enthusiasts and hybrid creators who want superior image quality and shooting experience compared to typical 1-inch sensor cameras, while remaining far more portable than interchangeable-lens systems.
The Lens
The standout feature is the Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34mm F1.7-2.8 lens, delivering a 24-75mm equivalent range. It maintains a bright F1.7 aperture at the wide end and F2.8 at the telephoto end, which is class-leading for a compact zoom. The optical construction uses 11 elements in 9 groups, including aspherical and ED elements, with a nine-blade aperture for pleasing bokeh. A physical aperture ring on the lens barrel provides direct, intuitive control.
Sensor and Image Quality
Inside is a 4/3-Type Back-illuminated (BSI) CMOS Image Sensor with 20.4 effective megapixels. Thanks to the multi-aspect ratio design, the camera delivers full-resolution images in 4:3, 3:2, and 16:9 formats without cropping. The larger sensor and BSI architecture provide noticeably better dynamic range and low-light performance compared to most 1-inch sensor compacts.
Autofocus and Speed
The L10 features Phase Hybrid AF with 779 focus points, along with significantly improved Eye/Face Detection accuracy powered by advanced AI. It also includes Real-time Recognition AF with support for urban sports subjects. Combined with up to 30 fps high-speed burst shooting, the camera is well-equipped for both decisive moments and fast action.
Video Capabilities
Video performance is generous for a compact camera, supporting 5.6K 60p high-resolution recording and 4K 120p High Frame Rate (HFR) video without cropping. V-Log is included for advanced color grading, with 10-bit 4:2:2 output available over HDMI.
Viewfinder and Handling
The built-in 2.76-million-dot OLED viewfinder offers 0.74x magnification. The rear screen is a 3-inch, 1.84-million-dot articulating touchscreen. The body uses magnesium alloy plates, weighs approximately 508g with battery and card, and includes weather sealing, a hot shoe, and USB-C charging.
