Canon has introduced the Cinema EOS C50, a compact full-frame cinema camera featuring a newly developed 32MP CMOS sensor. The sensor supports Dual Pixel Autofocus (DPAF) II, dual native ISO at 800 and 6400, and is capable of recording up to 7K 60p RAW and 4K 120p high-speed video. Additional recording options include a simultaneous 2K crop mode.
The C50 adopts a compact “brick” form factor with active cooling, making it one of Canon’s smallest and most portable full-frame cinema cameras. While designed primarily for video production, it also offers still image capture at up to 40fps in RAW, a pre-burst mode, and registered person priority autofocus. The camera does not feature a mechanical shutter.
Connectivity includes USB-C, full-size HDMI, 3.5mm microphone input, 3.5mm headphone output, an E3 remote terminal, and a DIN timecode jack. Two XLR inputs are available via an optional attachable handle.
The C50 is priced at $3,899, positioning it as Canon’s most affordable cinema camera at launch. It sits below the Super 35 C70 and the full-frame 6K C80 in the current Cinema EOS lineup.
