On August 26, 2025, Hasselblad officially unveiled the next-generation X2D II 100C medium format camera. It features a 100-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 16-bit color depth, and 15.3 stops of dynamic range. The camera debuts AF-C continuous autofocus capability, combined with a LiDAR-assisted focusing system, significantly enhancing focus performance.

Alongside the camera, the XCD 2.8-4/35-100E standard zoom lens was introduced. Covering a full-frame equivalent focal range of 28-76mm, it employs an optical construction of 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical elements and five ED glass elements. This lens marks a key addition to Hasselblad’s high-end “holy trinity” zoom series.

The X2D II 100C incorporates a 43.8×32.9mm medium format BSI sensor and a new-generation processor, supporting a native ISO of 50. It is the industry’s first medium format camera capable of end-to-end HDR imaging, with in-camera HDR HEIF/Ultra HDR JPEG output.

The camera features a matte graphite gray finish and is 7.5% lighter than its predecessor, weighing just 840g. Operational ease is improved with the addition of a five-way joystick and customizable buttons on the rear.

A major breakthrough is the X2D II 100C’s autofocus system. The new AF-C continuous autofocus utilizes a 425-point phase detection system and supports subject recognition and tracking for people, animals, and vehicles. The LiDAR-assisted focusing system and AF assist light significantly improve low-light performance.

Another highlight is the upgraded stabilization system. The new 5-axis IBIS offers up to 10 stops of compensation, enabling handheld long-exposure photography.

The camera also includes a built-in 1TB SSD with read/write speeds of 2370MB/s and 2850MB/s respectively, alongside a CFexpress Type B slot for expanded storage.

XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 Lens

The simultaneously released XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 lens weighs 894g and consists of 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical and five ED elements.

With a full-frame equivalent focal range of 28-76mm, it covers commonly used focal lengths from landscape to portrait. The maximum aperture is f/2.8 at the wide end and f/4.0 at the telephoto end.

The lens features a leaf shutter supporting 1/4000s flash sync, a minimum focusing distance of 0.4m, and an 86mm filter thread.

Together, the Hasselblad X2D II 100C and XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 lens provide a lightweight, high-resolution solution for professional photographers.
