On September 10, 2025, Nikon announced the ZR, a compact cinema camera designed for creators seeking full creative control with authentic motion picture quality — all without external recorders or complex workflows.
Developed in collaboration with RED, the ZR introduces a new R3D NE RAW format optimized for Nikon’s image processors. It supports up to 6K/60p 12-bit internal recording, delivering rich, gradable footage ready for color grading, cropping, and finishing. A new Cinematic Video Mode incorporates preset RED color styles for out-of-camera content that’s instantly shareable.
The camera features a bright 4-inch DCI-P3 LCD display with approximately 1000 nits of brightness, ensuring crisp visibility even in direct sunlight. Support for LUT monitoring and flexible exposure tools helps creators visualize the image with confidence. Advanced 32-bit float audio technology and Nokia OZO Audio’s five pickup patterns offer pro-level sound control with minimal setup.
