Today, Sony has officially introduced the FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS, a full frame macro prime lens in its G Master lineup. This is the first macro lens in the GM series, designed for high resolution stills and professional video production.
The lens features a maximum magnification of 1.4x and supports up to 2.8x when paired with Sony’s teleconverters. It uses four XD linear motors for fast and quiet autofocus, with speed improvements of up to 1.9 times compared to previous models.
Optical design includes two XA and two ED elements to reduce chromatic aberration and maintain edge sharpness. The lens supports optical stabilization and is optimized for video with breathing suppression and silent operation.
It includes a sliding focus ring for quick AF/MF switching, a physical aperture ring with click and lock options, and two customizable focus hold buttons. The lens is built with weather sealing and a fluorine coated front element.
